Michaung Flood Relief @ Sai Sankalp School

Michaung floods have ravaged many parts of Chennai and Semmencheri where Sai Sankalp school is located has taken the maximum beating. Water levels rose to more than 10 feet in this area and all classrooms in Sai Sankalp school got inundated causing unprecedented damage to buildings, learning materials and furniture and fixtures. We have atleast couple of months of hardwork before normalcy returns, however, right now we are gearing ourselves to reopen the school and cleaning and repair and restoration work is underway at war footing. We need your urgent support and contribution to get back in shape.

Here is a breakup of anticipated immediate costs :

1. Montessori learning materials replacement for classes LKG, UKG, Grade 1 - 35 different types of kits for each grade. Approximate cost of replacement is INR 200000
2. Montessori mats for students- 105 no.s, Group Montessori mats - 20 no.s Approximate cost of replacement is INR 13500
3. Fitzroy Foundational Literacy Learning materials (readers) - 70 sets Approximate cost of replacement is INR 15000
4. Library books, sports equipment replacement approximate budget - INR 10000
5. Electronics replacement - Public Address System, Hard drive for CCTV Camera. Approximate cost of replacement is 12000
6. Sanitation costs approximately INR 20000
7. Furniture replacement costs - approximately INR 1,00,000
8. Classroom Furniture painting - approximately INR 35,000
9. Building Repairs & Painting - approximately INR 6,00,000 - includes following:

• Classroom walls antifungal treatment (To be taken up immediately)
• Repairs in Toilet block (To be taken up immediately)
• Complete repainting of the School buildings interior and exterior (to be undertaken in the month of May 2024 during summer break)
