Story

The Problem

Impactful change-makers are created with a small input at the right moment. The emerging ecosystem for incubation of start-ups recognizes this need. However this support is yet to reach resource-poor communities and the gender and rural-urban gaps are quite evident. This can only be addressed by ground-up, grassroot level interventions with a special focus on women.

Our Solution

We find and nurture Changemakers, especially rural women through our Changemaker, Rural Women Edupreneurs and Entrepreneurs Fellowships. We have launched the Community Health Entrepreneurs (CHE) program in 2022 and have completed two batches. These opportunities help them to explore, define, test and develop an action plan for local entrepreneurial ideas for change. We also offer networking and skill development support through a team of anchors.

Impact

-Over the last 13 years, we have offered 211 Fellowship opportunities across 13 states in India.

-We have inspired and nurtured 46 changemakers to become successful micro service entrepreneurs. They  work on diverse issues such as quality of education, basic health care, skill development and innovation.

-We have a well knit Anchor network with  16 Anchors working in 8 states of India : Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Bihar, Jharkhand, Assam and Maharashtra.

-Through the 2 micro-incubation hubs we provide a number skill building opportunities.

-The fellowships have contributed to the well-being of 15000+ people spread across various states.

 Current Fellowship Programs (2023-2024)

-Three actives batches of RWEs in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh(7), Satara, Maharashtra(5) , and Palamu, Jharkhand(5).

-We have Identified 5 fellows in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, fellowship will start from August.

-We have completed orientation workshop with 30 participants in Uttarakhand, fellowship will start from August after selection.

-Ongoing training for third batch of Community Health Entrepreneurs (CHEs) with 20 women to offer doorstep basic diagnostics and teleconsultation in collaboration with StepOne.

Way Forward

-We now aim to expand micro-incubation setting up two more hubs.

-Operating from four hubs, we hope to work with 100 CHEs and 60 RWEs

-We continue to build on our work to develop the ecosystem to nurture grassroot changemakers

Our Ask

-We spend approximately Rs 1- 1.2 lakh on a fellowship and all contributions are welcome
