Micro-incubation for Rural Women Changemakers

The Problem 

Impactful change-makers are created with a small input at the right moment. The emerging ecosystem for incubation of start-ups recognizes this need. However this support is yet to reach resource-poor communities and the gender and rural-urban gaps are quite evident. This can only be addressed by ground-up, grassroot level interventions with a special focus on women. 

Our Solution 

We find and nurture Changemakers, especially rural women through our Changemaker, Rural Women Edupreneurs and Entrepreneurs Fellowships. We have launched the Community Health Entrepreneurs (CHE) program in 2022. These opportunities help them to explore, define, test and develop an action plan for local entrepreneurial ideas for change. We also offer networking and skill development support through a team of anchors.  

Impact 

-Over the last 16 years, we have supported 373 changemakers across 13 states.

-Since 2021-22 we have supported 275 changemakers;

157 in education(RWE)

32 in skill development(R2R)

83 CHE(s) and 3 Changemaker Fellows

64% continue the activity and earn an additional income in the range of rupees 2000/- to 13000/-

-Our current anchor network is active across 7 states in 11 districts.

: Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Maharashtra.

-The fellowships have offered services in education, skill-building and health to 3.73+ lakh community members.

Way Forward 

-We now aim to build self sustaining ecosystems across communities led by our alumni with local support.

-Our goal is to nurture 300 RWE fellows and 150 CHE(s) in the next 3 years reaching 4.5 Lakh people.

-Our Digishala program will empower them with necessary digital tools and set them on a path of continuous learning.

Our Ask

-We spend approximately Rs 1.3 lakh on a RWE fellowship and 2 Lakhs for CHE.

All contributions are welcome, including support for medical kits, computers and smartphones.
