Save Kannada Medium Schools by teaching Spoken English

This project aims to save Kannada Medium Schools by offering free Spoken English training throughout the year.

Many parents desire their children to become fluent in English, leading them to borrow money at high interest rates for admissions in private, unaided schools. This often strains their finances. Newspapers reported 'Zero Admission' in 55 schools of Udupi and DK districts this year. There was a report on closure of 567 schools in Karnataka this year and many more face the threat of closing due to this parental attitude.

The project takes a sustainable, community-driven approach, providing communicative English training to students and guest/honorary teachers in Kannada Medium Schools.

Our Visionary Initiative Aims to:

1. Empowering Rural Children: Our project bridges the English proficiency gap in Kannada Medium Schools, equipping rural children with crucial communicative English skills, enhancing their educational and employment prospects, and raising overall educational standards in rural areas.
2. Uplifting Local Culture: Our project imparts English proficiency within the context of local culture, allowing students to thrive academically while preserving their cultural heritage and bridging the gap between traditional values and contemporary knowledge.
3. Poverty Alleviation: Our project relieves financial burdens on parents by offering quality education and English language skills, reducing the need for costly English Medium Schools, and contributing to poverty eradication.
4. Women's Empowerment: Our project empowers economically disadvantaged women by enhancing their English communication skills, expanding their career opportunities, and fostering overall development within the rural community.
5. Employment Opportunities: Our project equips students and teachers with essential English skills, addressing job uncertainties, increasing demand for educators, and generating employment opportunities.
6. Rural Development: Our program benefits students and teachers from rural Karnataka by enhancing employability, breaking the cycle of poverty, and promoting economic growth and community engagement.
7. Preserving Kannada Medium Schools: Our project addresses declining enrollment in Kannada Medium Schools by equipping students and teachers with essential English language skills, ensuring the continued existence and relevance of these schools in rural Karnataka.

About the Trust:

The organization is a registered trust headquartered in Udupi, with all the necessary legal documents, including trust registration, 12AA, 80G, Darpan Registration, and CSR Registration. They have obtained permission from government authorities to offer Spoken English training to teachers and students in primary and high schools within Udupi and DK Districts.

Our Project - Phase I:

Phase I is currently underway, benefiting 40 teachers and 495 students across seven schools.

Project - Phase II:

Phase II requires a total budget of Rs. 33,20,000/- (Rupees Thirty-Three Lakhs Twenty Thousand only) to reach 4000 students and 160 teachers of 80 schools and will begin immediately upon receiving the necessary funds for an efficient project implementation.
