Nanhe Parinday: Building Bridges to Education

In the heart of a bustling city, the harsh realities of life often silence the dreams of the innocent. These children come from backgrounds of poverty and struggle, with parents working hard for daily wages or facing unemployment and struggling to make ends meet. Their world never embraced the joy of a classroom—a place of safety, exploration with books, and the warmth of human connection. Instead, the unforgiving streets and concealed corners of the city became their makeshift playgrounds, offering a desperate escape from the grim reality that surrounded them.

Our Impact – Together we can make a change

Today we are here dedicated in rewriting the narrative of their lives.

Udaan became a space where compassion and dedication flourished, where the staff and volunteers stood as unwavering pillars of support for these resilient young spirits. It is within these walls that their stories took a new turn, a turn towards hope and a brighter future. It wasn’t just education & a safe haven that these children found, but also an extended family, which our volunteers have become, offering love, kindness and empathy that had been missing from their lives. The transformative impact we have seen is nothing short of remarkable.

Our journey so far:

Growth: From a modest start in October 2022 with just one student, our first batch swiftly grew to 15 students within a week. Recently, we introduced three new batches, extending our reach and impact. It's not just about numbers; it's about reaching more hearts.

School Admissions: We successfully helped 4 of these children join mainstream schools. It's not just education; it's opening doors to new possibilities.

Government IDs: Now, these children have government IDs, something they were lacking before. It's about giving them the recognition they deserve.

Infrastructure Development: Beyond textbooks, we've provided essentials: classrooms, computers, stationery, uniforms, books, even a badminton court and a table tennis area. It's creating an environment where they can truly learn and grow.

Platform to Express: Beyond the traditional classroom setting, we expanded our horizons by introducing dance classes. Witnessing the students perform on a larger stage at our annual event was truly special. Their talent caught the attention of a distinguished guest, leading to an invitation for another event and subsequent performance, being appreciated by local MLA, and councilor among other guests.

The development journey of our kids

Once hesitant in communication, they now greet others with confidence. Their academic journey has evolved from unfamiliarity with the alphabet to proficient reading and writing in both Hindi & English. They have a good understanding of basic mathematical concepts.

Computers once alien, are now navigated with ease. They’ve also embraced sports – Badminton and table tennis, as well as developed interest in Arts. Beyond these skills there has been a profound emotional growth – from silence and aggression to radiant joy and confidence. These children who once knew nothing but the harsh realities of life have now learned to dream, and their dreams are as boundless as the sky itself.

By expanding our programs, we aim to include more of these eager minds and make a lasting difference in their lives. Our vision is to ensure that every child is educated and given a chance at a life they once could only dream of.
