Campaign by GiveIndia
Nyaaya is an open-access digital resource that provides simple, actionable, reliable, and accessible (SARAL) legal information to help Indian citizens navigate everyday legal problems and understand their rights.
To date, Nyaaya has reached over 3 crore users and responds to nearly 100 legal questions monthly. It has covered 100+ legal topics, works with 60+ partner organisations, and is supported by a growing network of 650+ access-to-justice members.
Nyaaya works to bridge the gap between people and the law—a gap created by legal complexity, lack of awareness, high costs, and limited access to trustworthy legal guidance—through an expert team of lawyers who create simplified, practical legal information for everyday Indians.
In addition to its digital work, Nyaaya runs on-ground legal empowerment initiatives through fellowships in Karnataka and Bihar. These fellowships place trained fellows within local communities to deliver legal literacy programmes, work with public institutions, support access to legal services, and respond to community-specific justice needs. By combining grassroots engagement with accessible legal knowledge, the fellowships strengthen legal awareness and help communities navigate the law more effectively.
Nyaaya has launched a free colouring book that introduces children to eighteen essential legal rights through fun, age-appropriate illustrations. The book covers rights related to safety, education, equality, nutrition, bullying, and more. It is currently available in English, Hindi, and Kannada.
The Hindi edition was launched on Constitution Day (26 November 2025) at Chanakya National Law University, Patna, and was released by Chief Justice Vibhu Bakhru. The Kannada edition was released on Children’s Day (15 November 2025) in Raichur, Karnataka, in collaboration with the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority (KSLSA) as part of a legal literacy programme.
While free digital versions of the colouring book are available online, Nyaaya is now seeking support to print physical copies for children from underserved communities.
Printed copies make it possible for children to engage with legal rights through creativity and shared learning. Your contribution will help us print and distribute these books to children who would otherwise not have access to them.
