Story

A severe cyclonic storm is projected to hit West Bengal and Odisha by October 24, 2024.

The Cyclone is currently intensifying over the Bay of Bengal, posing significant threat to the eastern coastal regions of India with anticipated wind speeds of 100-120 km/h, along with heavy to extremely heavy rainfall.

198 trains have been cancelled and , 100,000 people are being prepared for evacuation.

High Risk Impact Areas:

  • Odisha- districts of Puri, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, and Balasore.
  • West Bengal- Sagar Island, Bigha.

Moderate impact Areas:

  • West Bengal- East Medinipur, Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly.
