Help me raise money to build a free-for-all school for the underprivileged

In India, more than 10 million children are out of school and only one in ten students complete secondary education.

Milaan (a combination of two Hindi words meaning ‘union’ and ‘declaration’) is dedicated to providing access to education for underprivileged children in Uttar Pradesh.

The innovative organisation run a school in a remote village within North India. On an average school day students from nursery to higher secondary attend eight hour classes at Swarachna, the learning centre. In addition to regular school activities, the centre also provides a midday meal, life skill sessions, as well as free books and uniforms.

The centre acts as a creative learning space and goes beyond mere academics to ensure students’ holistic development. Children are introduced to the outside world by means of books, magazines, and critically selected movies.

Swabhiman (or ‘self-respect’ in Hindi) is an additional project created by Milaan, which helps young girls get back into education after dropping out upon completion of primary school. They are given informal education to give them the necessary tools in order to return to school, complete their class 10 exams, and look forward to an educated and improved future.
