Story

Devastating landslides following incessant rains in the picturesque hill station of Wayanad have taken at least 70 lives and affected hundreds of families. The landslide that struck between 2 AM and 4 AM on Tuesday, severely impacted the villages of Mundakkai, Chooralmala, Attamala, and Noolpuzha

News reports show 11 bodies of individuals trapped in the Wayanad landslide were discovered floating in various parts of the Chaliyar River in Malappuram - some with missing arms, legs, and even heads. The body of a three-year-old was among them. Hundreds still are feared to be missing.

Nature’s fury has turned hundreds of villages into pictures of suffering and loss

Houses, shops, and vehicles are buried under debris. Schools are submerged too. Ground-level NGOs are working tirelessly to rescue people. Huge boulders are rolling down the hills, collapsing bridges and the lack of internet connectivity has made rescue efforts even harder.

But despite the heavy rains, these brave rescuers are saving the injured. Many people are stranded in Threevalley Resort, Mundakai School, and Mundakai Ground areas. Train services have also been disrupted because of heavy waterlogging.

Authorities have launched massive search and rescue operations. Fireforce and NDRF teams are on the ground. A team of 200 Indian Army personnel has been dispatched from Kannur. Thirty specialist swimmers from the Indian Navy are on their way, and two Indian Air Force helicopters are searching for those in need.

A shelter camp has been set up at St. Mary’s SKMJ School in Bathery, Kalpetta. Medical teams and ambulances are there, and food and clothing are being provided.

However, the need is urgent and the death toll is rising - donate now to save precious lives

The Donatekart Foundation, in collaboration with local NGOs, is working tirelessly to provide essential relief supplies to the victims of the Wayanad landslide. These supplies include ready-to-eat kits, first aid supplies, water bottles, tarpaulins, and tents. These essential items can bring immediate relief and comfort to those who have lost everything.

Please stand with the Wayanad landslide victims. In this time of crisis, be their beacon of hope. The situation is dire, with pain and suffering everywhere. Now is the time for humanity to come together and shine.
