Parinaam Summer Camp (2022-23)

During Summers students across regions enroll in various summer camps and training. These camps provide them an outlet to grow, hone their skills, and identify their areas of interest. Unfortunately, these summer camps are ideated only for privileged and resourceful students.

Parinaam identified this gap and designed a comprehensive strategy for providing equal opportunities to kids from poor communities so that they can also explore their potential and possibilities of growth. Also, during the summers the schools remain closed. The parents are then forced to remain at home to take care of the kids, which severely impacts their livelihood opportunities as their working hours become less. 

Parinaam aims to provide an equal ground to the children from these poor communities so that they can have equal access to learn and grow. The Foundation has meticulously developed a 5-week summer camp curriculum that encapsulates a range of fun, engaging, educative, and practical activities for the holistic development of these children.

Parinaam had started this summer camp initiative in the year 2010 with just 60 children between the ages of 4- 14 years. The popularity and success of the camp made the program bigger each year. The summer camp this year will be organized in April and will cater to more than 1600 children from around 50 ultra-poor urban communities.

The designed curriculum not only incorporates a fine balance of learning and fun, but also focuses on other crucial aspects of development like the behavior, performance, attendance, and hygiene of the students. Apart from an interactive learning opportunity, the summer camp also provides the students soft skill and personality development training with properly curated incentives to keep them engaged during the entire span of the camp.

All the previous summer camps were very well received by the children and the communities at large. The overwhelming support from the children and their parents has led Parinaam to plan the summer camp every year. When parents watch their children enjoy, develop, and grow because of these camps, they become more involved and cooperative with the programs which are developed specifically for them. Moreover, the summer camps being more practical and interactive have been found to be significantly more impactful in terms of learning, skill development, and participative growth. It also provides the platform for these children to showcase their talent and explore their inner potential. This results in positive feedback learning for the children and provides them with the much-needed incentive to hone their interests and skills. Additionally, the summer camp initiative allows the parents to work more hours and thereby increase their earning opportunities.
