In Tijara block of Alwar district of Rajasthan, India around 90 % people depend on farming for their livelihood. They generally grow field crop and use flood irrigation methods. Thus, they end up using excessive ground water resources. Recharging the ground water is a big problem and as a result ground water is depleting very fast.
END POVERTY is promoting horticulture farming under the brand name "Plant a Tree for Life" to improve the income of small farmers in a sustainable manner. Program is implemented in Tijara block of Alwar district of Rajasthan, India as horticulture farming is the best solution towards sustainable farming as it consumes less water, gives more returns, needs less labour, improve the local environment and family nutrition. To promote sustainability and reduce water consumption in farming, EP is helping farmers to diversify from field crops to horticulture crops.
Plant a tree for Life aims to improve the livelihood and the capacities of vulnerable rural communities in Tijara block of Rajasthan in a sustainable manner by promoting horticulture farming.

To further support Tijara farmers that grow fruit and vegetables in sales and marketing of their produce at competitive prices, End Poverty has formed a Fruits and Vegetable Producer Company "Dinker Agriculture Producer Company Limited" to support small and marginal farmers in Tijara this year with a purpose to enhance farm productivity, efficient value chain development and providing market linkage thus eliminating the petty traders who often exploit the farmers.
End Poverty wants to raise funds for PLANT A TREE FOR LIFE PROJECT ( PTFL ) as horticulture farming gives higher returns, need less water & labour and improves environment & nutrition in family.
End Poverty has planted around 40305 fruit tress covering 749 farmers from 70 villages. Fruit trees include lemon, guava, sweet lime, kinoo, goose berry, pomegranate, papaya, amla, ber and other citrus fruits.
End Poverty wants to raise funds for planting 5000 fruit trees/ saplings in a period of 1 year ( 1st January -31st Dec2020) .
Cost per plant is Rs 100 which includes cost of sapling, basal treatment, supervision , farmers training etc.
