Pooja & Rajesh are Raising Funds for DONATE OXYGEN INDIA (Amba Dalmia Foundation & Keventers)

Campaign by GiveIndia

Story

The second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic and the resulting deaths due to an acute shortage of oxygen-related supplies this April prompted us to form a task force, Donate Oxygen India. The task force was set up on April 26th, 2021 by The Amba Dalmia Foundation Trust, Keventers and several volunteers. Our objective is to tackle the problem at hand through solutions that would of course alleviate the immediate problem on a short-term basis, but also provide more long-term solutions geared at capacity building to ensure such a situation is never repeated.

We are all well aware that the primary need of the hour is oxygen. We have been working in tandem with Government Authorities to identify hospitals that are in dire need of oxygen and related supporting devices, as well as other life-saving medical equipment which are urgently required in order to provide critical care to COVID-19 patients and save lives. We have directly contacted these hospitals to understand the enormous challenges faced by healthcare professionals and have started the execution of a two-step plan to address these.

The Dalmia family, the Keventers Corporate Team and friends have generously donated close to Rs. 40,00,000/- towards this cause, and this figure is rising daily due to the overwhelming public support. In order to widen the reach and raise more funds, the task force has started a campaign on the popular crowd funding website, Ketto.org. The administrator of this campaign is the Amba Dalmia Foundation Trust, and the beneficiaries are those afflicted by the current wave of the pandemic.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 1. Immediately provide Oxygen Concentrators and BiPAP machines for respiratory support to hospitals that are in dire need for immediate relief.

Current Status - We have been in touch with the CEO of the Delhi Cantonment Board, Mr. S.V.R Chandra Sekhar. He has put us in touch with the Cantonment General Hospital medical team. We are in constant touch with Dr. Ajay Singh, who is leading the COVID-19 ward. We have received a list of equipment urgently required by them and are in the process of procuring the said equipment (the list of requirements, as well as quotations for some of the equipment, are attached herewith).

Step 2. Build oxygen generating facilities at hospitals to create a self-sustaining oxygen source to mitigate the issue on a long-term basis and make hospitals more self-sufficient.

Current Status - We have connected with Moolchand Hospital, Delhi and are in touch with Mr. Ankur Dhandharia, Head (Legal and Finance), regarding setting up of an on-site medical oxygen plant at their Lajpat Nagar campus. We have received quotations for such plants (attached) and shared them with the hospital and await the technical specifications and capacity required.

We are well on our way, working to get hospitals the critical oxygen sources they need as quickly and efficiently as possible.
