In the remote tribal villages of Kandhamal, childhood begins amid beautiful forests, hills and strong community traditions. But for many families, everyday life is shaped by poverty, food insecurity and limited access to nutritious food and early childhood learning opportunities.
Many families in the proposed intervention villages earn less than ₹100 per day. For young children, this economic hardship can translate into inadequate nutrition, low immunity and challenges to healthy cognitive development. Concept Note for Pre-School Nut…
Kandhamal Zilla Sabuja Vaidya Sangathan (KZSVS) has worked with marginalized and tribal communities in Odisha since 2004, with programmes covering health, nutrition, education, sustainable livelihoods and natural-resource management. Today, KZSVS works across more than 600 villages, particularly with vulnerable communities, women and children. Concept Note for Pre-School Nut…
For the past five years, KZSVS has operated six Pre-School Education and Nutrition Centres with support from Jiv Daya Foundation. These centres have provided basic pre-school education, daily nutritional supplementation, and awareness on hygiene and health. With the earlier donor support completed, sustaining these centres has become an urgent priority. Concept Note for Pre-School Nut…
Through the GIVE India Dan Utsav Campaign, we are seeking the support of individual donors, friends, institutions and well-wishers to continue this journey for 250 children aged 0–5 years from six tribal villages of Kandhamal. Concept Note for Pre-School Nut…
The six centres are located in Tembuli, Alimaha, Breakamala, Dabedi, Petumaha and Katedimaha. Concept Note for Pre-School Nut…
Your ₹12 can make a differenceThe programme has been designed around a simple and achievable contribution:
₹12 can support one child's nutrition for a day.
₹300 can support one child for a month.
₹3,600 can support one child for an entire year.
₹9,00,000 can support the planned nutrition programme for 250 children for one year. Concept Note for Pre-School Nut…
The support will contribute to daily milk powder and biscuits, regular pre-school learning sessions, growth monitoring, basic health awareness, and engagement with parents and the wider community on child nutrition. Concept Note for Pre-School Nut…
KZSVS's approach is to place children at the centre of a stronger village ecosystem. Our experience tells us that a child's wellbeing cannot be separated from the wellbeing and resilience of their family and community.
Alongside the child-focused intervention, KZSVS's wider community-development efforts include women's empowerment and livelihoods, livelihoods for persons with disabilities, WASH, rural solar electrification, agriculture, village infrastructure, community participation, cultural revival and strengthening traditional food systems.
This broader approach is intended to build community ownership, rather than creating long-term dependence on external assistance. The concept note specifically envisages community contribution and ownership, stronger involvement of local SHGs, convergence with ICDS/Anganwadi services, and partnerships for long-term sustainability. With sustained support, the programme seeks improved nutritional intake, reduced undernutrition and related health concerns, better cognitive and physical development, improved school readiness, and stronger community awareness of child nutrition. Concept Note for Pre-School Nut…
The programme will also track attendance and nutrition distribution monthly, periodically monitor children's growth, undertake field reviews, and document progress and impact stories. Concept Note for Pre-School Nut…
A contribution does not have to be large to matter.
₹12 can begin with one child, for one day.
When many people come together, those small contributions can help keep a nutrition centre running, support a child's learning, strengthen parents' awareness and give an entire community greater confidence to protect its children's future.
We invite you to join KZSVS through the GIVE India Dan Utsav Fundraising Campaign and stand with the children and tribal communities of Kandhamal.
