Prema Vasam is a home for special needs children. Special needs children with multiple disabilities. Since a good number of children are very fragile and bedridden. It is slightly challenging to care for them. The challenge demands various factors such as their health and other issues like they are badly in need of physiotherapy, occupational therapy and special education.

Further, they need very attentive nursing care. Hence, we have three residential nurses to care for them day and night. A regular medical check-up by a paediatrician and general physician is also compulsory. Somehow there are not very many homes like ours to care for these sorts of fragile special needs children. The number of special needs children is increasing day by day. At the same time, it is very hard to say “No” to them. Regarding their food, every kid has to be fed unique requirements and they should be fed highly nutritional food most of these children have to be spoon-fed. 

We are looking raise funds to meet the day-to-day needs like food, providing salaries to our therapists, and nurses and replacing the furniture used by bedridden kids which is in bad condition. If we are provided sufficient funds, we can spend more time with these special needs children. The action could be to prepare specialised food based on each one of our special needs children’s health and intake. The digestive system differs from child to child and the quality of food also differs from child to child. Hence, we need to prepare special and nutritional food for them. We try our best to provide them with organic vegetables and fruits. We try to get A2Milk from a Paalaar Urban farm in Chengalpattu and try to get organic paddy too. Somehow all these organic materials are a bit expensive. These special needs children are bedridden, they are badly in need of therapy to be more active and healthier.  

Since our special needs children are very fragile, they get sick and their resistance is extremely poor. Even a tiny infection could cause a devastating health complication. If they are given nutritional food, and therapy regularly they are going to be healthier and live a long life. We always consider these special needs children are Born for Greater things to make us kinder and more compassionate. Hence our special needs children are going to be an inspiration in society to be more caring and giving.
