Hope for Women & Joy to Children - SVATANYA

SVATANYA has been upskilling women since 2013 and has engaged with 1200+ women hailing from 11 States across India living in Urban slums yet denied the opportunity to explore their potential and be self reliant. It started with the pandemic but the disproportionate impact on women and their livelihood has only gone worse since. As per estimates India's female LFPR is around 31% to 32.4% much below global average of 49% - 51.4%. While it's better in rural ranging between 36.6% and 45.9%, in urban it's notably lower, between 24.8% - 27.7%

Under Project Hope, we train underprivileged women in urban slums to make beautiful handcrafted Sustainable Soft Toys. This not only helps them upskill and earn a livelihood but that too in a manner that supports the Environment. The Toys thus created are gifted to underprivileged children fighting terminal illnesses in Government hospitals

Project Hope shall benefit and impact the following set of stakeholders:

1. Marginalized women in urban slums lacking opportunity to Learn, Earn and Grow
2. Underprivileged children in fighting terminal illnesses in government hospitals and orphanages

The various benefits and impacts of Project Hope are

1. The women get upskilled in the art of handcrafting
2. Women earn a livelihood enhancing their confidence and dignity
3. Textile waste is upcycled to make Toys supporting the Environment
4. Hope & Joy to the underprivileged children in Govt hospitals and shelter homes
