Our 17 years deep experience of working with survivors have helped us understand that we need to believe in the power of survivors and lighten their aspiration by providing them with the tools, skills, and support necessary to become successful entrepreneurs. The project will focus on producing and selling canvas bags to companies, while simultaneously fostering a conducive environment for the growth of these women-led businesses. This initiative will not only contribute to economic empowerment but also address social issues surrounding human trafficking and gender inequality.
Project Objectives:
- Empower survivor entrepreneurs: Offer training, mentorship, and resources to help bride trafficking survivors start and grow their canvas bag businesses.
- Sustainable income generation: Enable survivors to generate a steady income, enhancing their economic independence and reducing vulnerability to exploitation.
- Raise awareness: Increase awareness about the issue of bride trafficking and promote the importance of supporting survivors in their journey to entrepreneurship.
- Partner with companies: Collaborate with companies to create a market for the canvas bags, fostering a sense of social responsibility among businesses.
- Foster a supportive community: Create a network of survivors and mentors, providing emotional and professional support to encourage personal growth.
Approach
- Entrepreneurship Training: Develop a comprehensive training program covering business skills, canvas bag production, marketing, financial management, and soft skills.
- Mentorship: Pair each survivor with a mentor who has experience in business or a related field, providing guidance and support.
- Production and Marketing: Set up a production unit for canvas bags, ensuring quality and appealing designs. Develop a marketing strategy to promote the bags to corporate clients.
- Market Linkages: Establish connections with companies seeking sustainable and socially responsible products, facilitating the sale of canvas bags.
- Community Building: Create a supportive community among survivors through regular meetings, workshops, and networking events.
- Awareness Campaigns: Run awareness campaigns targeting various stakeholders, shedding light on the issue of bride trafficking and the potential of survivor entrepreneurship.
Impact and Sustainability:
- Economic Empowerment: Bride trafficking survivors will have the opportunity to achieve financial independence, improving their overall quality of life.
- Social Change: By addressing the root causes of bride trafficking and offering alternatives, the project contributes to reducing human trafficking and gender-based violence.
- Environmental Sustainability: Promoting the use of canvas bags supports environmental conservation by reducing plastic waste.
- Financial Sustainability: Generate revenue through the sale of canvas bags to cover operational costs and invest in the expansion of the project.
- Partnerships: Collaborate with NGOs, government agencies, corporate partners, and community organizations to leverage resources and expertise.
