Propel Dreams of Education in these Challenging Times

In rural India, for children from the economically challenged backgrounds, education appears to be more of a privilege than a basic right. The pandemic has further increased this gap with many families losing their livelihoods. In this scenario, where families are struggling to meet their basic needs, more and more children are dropping out of school. You can help the deserving youth from Maharashtra and Karnataka to continue their education through your contribution of ₹3,300 that supports them for a year. Extend the gift of education and give power to their dreams!

While we take education as a rite of passage, in Rural India it’s acquired through opportunity, hard work and sheer merit. Students from the economically challenged section of society either fall prey to loan sharks to pursue their education or are forced to quit studies altogether to support their families. These exceptionally talented individuals reluctantly give up their dreams and work as daily wage labourers for the rest of their lives without the opportunity to break free from the cycle of poverty. When it comes to the girl child, they are married off earlier in order to reduce the burden on the family. As a result, the ambitious and meritorious students fail to realise their true potential. 

This problem has only risen dramatically in the pandemic, as many more families lost their livelihoods, either directly or indirectly. With the lack of basic income to sustain the families daily needs, more students had to drop their studies and compensate for the loss of income by working. 

To ensure meritorious students from an economically disadvantaged background are given the opportunity and support to pursue their dreams of higher studies, Help A Child offers scholarships and educational aid after a thorough selection process. This ensures that the truly deserving are given an equal platform.

To ensure that learning continues among students during the pandemic, we aim to support as many students so that they are not deprived of the opportunities they deserve.

Help A Child to Study project has reached out to more than 4,600 individuals to pursue their dreams since 2001. We are glad to see many of our alumni are now working at reputed and responsible positions, with successful careers on account of the timely assistance they received. The Help A Child project has given rise to many engineers, doctors, lecturers, nurses, accountants, forest officers and many more such professionals.

We are witness to the fact that 'If one individual from a family becomes a professional, he can raise the standard of living of his entire family and his future family.'

For the academic year 2020-21, we sponsored over 809 students and for the current financial year we aim to cross this number. We want to empower our students to have a better future for themselves and their families. 

While the pandemic has given rise to an increase in dropouts, we want to be the bridge that would guide our students across to a better tomorrow.
