Provide education to a poor, working child

19 out of 100 children in India are not attending school. This number increases significantly in coastal villages, which are highly vulnerable to cyclones and floods every year. As coastal families lose their homes and land, their children are forced to work and forget about getting an education.

We are actively involved in teaching parents of child labourers the importance of education and their duty towards their children. To date, we have enrolled 1058 children into non-formal schools and mainstreamed 491 children into regular schools. We pay for their school fees and provide them with school bags, uniforms, notebooks, and stationery so they are encouraged to attend school regularly.

One educated child is capable of changing their families history by pulling them out of poverty. A sum of Rs. 3500 (USD 70), can support one child’s educational expenses for an entire year.
