Provide support for an elderly person in distress

India is home to over 100 million elderly people and the figures have seen a consistent rise in the last few years. The problems faced by the elderly are anything from an unstable income, in which to support themselves, to ill health and an absence of social security.

One in every three senior citizens are abused in India and over 50% of cases originate within the family. We realized that they needed productive activities as well as a platform where they can share their thoughts and seek counselling.

Initiated by HelpAge India, the programme started supporting Village Development Communities who were in turn encouraged to support over 300 destitute and vulnerable elderly persons while providing them with regular food.

All our elderly beneficiaries have a savings account as part of our bank linkage programme. We have also set up three medical check-up centres and one physiotherapy centre. Health camps have been organised where over 100 elderly persons have already had cataract operations and been given necessary spectacles.

Over 300 elderly people are living a life of dignity and are given respect with 24/7 care and help. Kindly lend your support so we can reach out to many more.
