Providing support to 200 children who are infected with HIV/AIDS on education,health and nutrtion in Tiruvannamaly district,Tamilnadu state.

In the Tiruvannamalai district of Tamilnadu, there is a prevalence of HIV infected and affected children and the number is ever-increasing. Children infected with HIV/AIDS face a lot of discrimination from their own family, neighbours, schools and even from their own friends in the community/ target areas.

Children affected by HIV are predominantly orphans. The common issues they face are of poverty and lack of proper education, health, food, shelter and even proper clothing.

Those children were forced to drop out of school, they were subjected to child labor, child trafficking, sexual exploitation, drug abuse, inducement in illegal activities, stigma & discrimination, lack of psycho –socio – economic support, lagging ART drug adherence and malnutrition. They suffer mentally and physically, without any hopes of a better future.

Since 2008, TDHPS (Tiruvannamalai District HIV Positive Society) is engaged in providing treatment, care, and support to the PLHIV children. The primary target people are children who were infected by HIV/AIDS .

In this proposal, TDHPS+ aims at attempting the following action:

The beneficiaries are 200 HIV/AIDS infected children.

Our primary action is providing educational and nutritional support to these children.

Through educational support, the children who are school dropouts will be re-enrolled into schools.They will be provided with education materials such as school uniform, books, bags, slippers, etc for every year. Apart from that, they will be provided evening tuition, life skills education and technical education.

Evening tution centres will be opened and these children will be provided tuitions wherein they will be made to write their homeworks,will be provided life skills training and/or play, followed by nutritional food.

Ensure access to health insurance to these children and facilitate availability.

Overall, TDHPS+ aims at providing support to 200 HIV infected children in Tiruvannamalai district,Tamilnadu.

The impact of the project will be:

• School dropouts will be re-enrolled into schools and will be provided with educational materials like uniforms, books, bags and slippers.

 Children will feel confident to face life's challenges.

 Education will improve through evening tution classes.

 Physical health of children will improve with proper nutritional support.

 Children will avail benefits of health insurance.

 Cases of child labor, child trafficking, sexual abuse and sexual exploitation among these children will considerably decrease

 Cases of discrimination will come down in number.

They will study and live like normal children.
