Quality Education for migrant children from North & North Eastern States of India living in Tirupur

Approximately 100,000 migrant children mostly from North and North Eastern States are out of school. Speaking different languages these children find it very difficult to understand the Tamil language which is the medium of instruction in schools in Tamil Nadu. This forces these children to discontinue their studies and drop out of school. There is a need to provide them with an opportunity to learn in a language of their choice and enable them to complete their education and to equip each one of them with the skills they need to function as responsible members of society.

SAVE established Green Park Smart School in the year 2016 for educating migrant and marginalized working children in a healthy environment where their educational, physical, emotional and developmental needs are met. The school will provide migrant children coming from other states an opportunity to learn in their mother tongue and pursue their education. In the longer term the organisation seeks to provide them with the needed support, one that will bring about a meaningful change in their lives. These children will be helped to complete their schooling through individual and corporate sponsorship.

The project will provide quality education to over 400 migrant children coming from the States of Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, West Bengal and other North Eastern States of India. The education will be in their mother tongue with English as a subject. This is expected to provide the much needed education to these children who are either school dropouts or have never been enrolled into a school. The education will equip each one of them with the skills they need to function as responsible members of their own communities and society.
