Story

The severe cyclonic storm GAJA that crossed Tamilnadu and Puducherry coast between Nagapattinam and Vedaranyam with a wind speed of 110-120 kmph gusting to 120 kmph brought heavy rains in the coastal districts. It has affected the delta districts and the Pudukottai district of Tamilnadu is worst affected. The cyclone did not spare anything, from houses to plantations to agricultural lands to fishermen's boats, it devoured them all. The unceasing rainfalls are interfering with the relief work. The scarcity of power supply has lead to the scarcity of drinking water..The farmers have experienced huge losses. Their houses, their farms which form their means of livelihood, have all been washed away.

PDPS+ is providing relief materials o the victims of GAJA Cyclone. Since the organisation is based in Pudukottai district itself, it has joined hands with likeminded NGOs in the delta districts for providing relief and support. Even though the government and individual philanthropists are providing support, a lot more rehabilitation work needs to be done when it comes to people suffering with HIV/AIDS.

PDPS+ is a registered charitable society, registered under the Tamilnadu Societies Registration Act of 1975. PDPS+ works primarily for the welfare of HIV/AIDS infected people, including the children. The second line of beneficiaries are the HIV/AIDS affected children whose parents are no more because they lost their lives to HIV/AIDS. Most of these children do not have access to nutritional food. Even having a chance to formal education is difficult to them.

PDPS+ acted quickly and took status of all the PLHIVs under PDPS+ intervention. Through this project, we would like to focus on rebuilding few PLHIV's lives which have been badly affected by the GAJA Cyclone. This proposal intends to provide rehabilitation to women and children particularly. For women, income generation and housing support is being provided, and for children, education and nutritional support has been planned.

We are aiming at rebuilding the lives of few badly affected victims through this project. Through housing support, the beneficiaries can repair their houses.

Through income generation support, the beneficiaries will be able to earn their livelihood. With their income, they can maintain their standard of living and can support the education of their children.
