Redevelopment Project proposal of Annasaheb Vartak Smarak Mandir Girl’s Hostel, Dadar, Mumbai

Difficulties faced by the girl students coming to their colleges in Mumbai from North Konkan region (mainly comprised of Palghar district north of Mumbai) have been growing year on year and therefore due to its consequential socio-economic stress and effect., it was decided to include facilities for a Girl’s Hostel in the planned redevelopment of Annasaheb Vartak Smarak Mandir which is situated at Chitale Road, Dadar (West)., Mumbai.

i) Our Trustees have felt the urgent social need to make a positive contribution to this social cause by including facilities for a Girl’s Hostel in the proposed redevelopment of Samaj Mandir on property bearing F. P. plot No. 360, TPS IV of Mahim Division at Chitale Road, Dadar (W), Mumbai 400028, G/N Ward known as ‘ANNASAHEB VARTAK SMARAK MANDIR’.

ii) The formalities with MCGM like approval of plans, Fire Dept. NOC, Traffic dept. NOC etc. have been obtained long before and now the IOD for the proposed redevelopment has been obtained from MCGM (Municipal Corp of Greater Mumbai) vide letter dated 30th Dec 2021. iii) The 8 Stories building will have a Community Hall, Dining Area, and two floors for Boy’s Hostel and the top (8th floor) floor for Girl’s Hostel. Ground level two floors are reserved for rental purposes to generate revenue for the operation of Hostel and Trust One floor will be reserved for administrative offices and the basement is being reserved for parking.

iv) The Girl’s hostel will have 1 independent room for about 33 girls, to begin with. Each of these rooms will be equipped with individual beds with a writing desk, chair, and reading lamp. The common toilets and washrooms will be set with modern fittings and a water heater. A separate toilet for the handicapped girl is also provided on the floor.

v) The facilities for Boy’s hostel are continuing on the 6th and 7th floor, as they existed in an old building with provision for about 70 students. The Boy’s hostel has provided good support to our students for the last 6 decades by now. Many of our past students have reached very high levels of their careers in various fields, occupying top-level executive posts in the executive world in India and abroad.

The proposed project shall be fully funded by companies and individuals and would provide a much safer and healthier educational environment to underprivileged girls and expand their overall educational opportunities.

It is also planned that the fees for Girl students staying in the hostel will be subsidized so that the poorest of the poor students in the community gets a chance to uplift her educational qualifications as well raise the standard of living for themselves and for their family.
