Urgent Appeal for Help - Topsia Fire Tragedy
On December 20 (yesterday), a massive fire ravaged the Topsia shanty (Mazdoorpara) canalside sewage, leaving 125 families homeless. Many people lost everything — their houses, shops, belongings, including essential items like children's books, furniture, money, savings, clothes, kitchen utensils and many more household items. The destruction is heartbreaking, and the survivors are now in desperate need of support.
One of the child Rehan (name changed) school books have turned into ashes and the Board exams are due in 2 months.
One women, crying profusely couldn't saved the amount she kept for building her house. There are many such heart breaking stories like this.
We call on your generosity to help rebuild these lives. The affected families urgently require the following donations:
Food for sustenance
Mosquito nets for protection (very urgent)
Kitchen utensils to cook and eat
Pet Bottles (1 Litre X 4 bottles) for each family
Water Bucket with Mug

Bamboos to rebuild temporary shelters
Blankets, shawls and warm clothes for the cold weather
Bedsheets
Sarees for the women
Baby food, Milk

Dry Food like Puffed Rice (Muri), Jaggery, Biscuits, Cakes

Aluminium Trunk for each family
Floor Mats (Chitai)
Sanitary Napkins
Bamboos, Darma

All the families got the dinner last night. It was a tough call at the last minute when we got the emergency request to cover the dinner for 500+ people who didn't had a lunch. Tiljala SHED Resource Mobilization team started connecting with their strong network to make this happen within 2.5 hours. Thanks to the Burhani Masjid and Mudar Patherya for responding to the last minute call.

We have ensured all the families families get enough blankets during this crises. All the blankets distribution have been completed. Thanks to all the donors who helped us and ensured that all the families are covered and every family has enough blankets during this cold winter.
