The pandemic has led institutions into exploring online models of education. However, the inaccessibility to internet facility and learning devices for many households continue to pose challenge for many children from accessing education. As a resolve Pragati Path aims to set up 10 remedial study centres with an LED each, internet connectivity and subscription to learning apps to bring together 20 students at a time (while following the social distancing protocols) to ensure continued learning for children. Your contribution of ₹1,000 can go a long way into educating children in rural communities of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
The Indian education system is characterised by a huge rural-urban gap when it comes to literacy, expenses incurred at household level, and accessibility to education.
Covid-19 has forced educational institutions across India, and the world indeed, to suspend physical classrooms and shift to online classes. When it comes to technology, only 15% rural households had access to the internet as compared to 42% of urban households.
It becomes clear that access to internet needs to be accompanied by access to computer devices/mobile phones to arrest the educational divide in a Covid-19 world where online classes are becoming the new normal. While faculty grapples with new ways of managing this sudden transition to online education, students of rural areas are far more behind.
The Covid-19 pandemic has shaken the roots of the world. We as an organization have seen a toughest time during this worldwide pandemic. The organization has been working in the field of education since 2008. The offices have shifted to work from home mode, but our field staff was regular in providing aid and assistance to the underprivileged children keeping in mind all the safety precautionary measures as guided by Govt of India. During a survey in the nearby slum areas of Jhansi, We have found out that education is amongst the most impacted sector during the pandemic. The students living in urban area can cope up with the technology and adapting fast to the new mode of education but for children who are the first-generation learner of their area are facing difficulty and almost at the verge of living their studies behind.
We came up with an idea to help the poor and underprivileged children by imparting free education to them. Till now we have utilised our staff as a medium to impart education to the needy ones, but now we are looking to set up a remedial study centre with a basic facility where students need not to worry about the smartphones and data pack.
There are several educated youths in the nearby area who are now unemployed, the covid-19 pandemic has devastated their life and dream of many such youth who were working hard pre-pandemic to earn their livelihood. This project will not only cater the educational need of the students but will also support such hard working- educated youth to get some source of income with a dignified life in their vicinity only.
With the help of this project, the organization will setup a centre with a bare minimum facility like LED, Internet connection ,1 coordinator and one technical staff. We are planning to setup 10 such remedial study centres. The organization will subscribe yearly plan of applications like Studyadda, Edureview for each class. The organization has already identified the target groups per village. The classes will be functional in a batch of 10 students keeping in mind the social distancing norms
