जिसे देखा करते थे हम दूर से, वहां पढ़ते हैं अब गुरूर से!Meet Khushiram and Tina, two 6 years old, living in two contrasting worlds of the same city!
Khushiram, a kid who should have been playing with his friends, was instead forced to collect garbage to support his family. His father barely makes ends meet by stitching dead bodies recovered from accident or crime scenes.
In another household lives Tina, daughter of an affluent doctor from a rich family. Tina attends an expensive private school, has the best teachers and tutors. All her classmates come from similar backgrounds. Tina is one of the top performers of her class.
If only Khushiram was sitting next to Tina in the classroom, his chances to a bright future just like Tina would improve by several times. This will also help generate empathy in Tina who will grow up to be less discriminatory and a just human being.
It’s time for you to act now and help us send 7000 such Khushirams to inclusive classrooms which were earlier beyond their reach.
Right to Education makes it possible for EWS children to access socially inclusive classrooms!
The 25% provision in Right to Education Act that mandates every private school to reserve 25% seats for EWS and disadvantaged children in entry classes is a landmark policy to drive social inclusion within classrooms. It took us fierce Advocacy, high profile legal battle, thwarting personal threats and breaking political, bureaucratic and private nexus to finally achieve major policy reforms in RTE and its implementation in Uttar Pradesh - home to 230 million people. We are working in collaboration with the government towards solving this problem institutionally.
We will identify children from disadvantaged communities mobilize them to get admission under RTE. Through our mass level campaigns we will reach out to people living in the remotest parts of the State. With providing assistance with filling the application form we will also provide helpline query and grievance redressal support to them.
RightWalk was able to bring about policy reform and government willingness to implement RTE in 2015 after persistent advocacy and implementation efforts with top state leadership. From merely 108 admissions till 2014 across the state we have come a long way impacting over 1,55,000 children till 2019. These are the children of Rickshaw pullers, day-laborers, thelawalas and domestic workers who are shining bright in their classes while establishing the power of INCLUSION.
With our current campaign we aim to impact 7000 children from EWS and disadvantaged communities by providing them admissions under RTE.
Contribute Rs. 1000 to impact 10 children, Rs 5000 to impact 50 children or Rs. 10000 to impact 100 children.
With little donation from your end, a daily-wager can dream of sending his child to the same school as his employer’s child. Your support will help us sustain the growth and development of these children.
Where they come from in life will not determine where they go!
