Story

OPEN LETTER FOR RESIDENT SPONSORSHIP

Arun Kumar is a 35 year old male diagnosed with intellectual disability and is currently residing at Andhra Mahila Sabha Mitra Mandir, a residential home for adult males with intellectual and developmental disabilities. He is dependent on activities of daily living like bathing, toileting and dressing and his disability percentage is 75%. He is under anti-epileptic medicine and has difficulty in mobility. He is a verbal, cheerful and friendly person.

He has been admitted at Andhra Mahila Sabha Mitra Mandir since November 2019 for life time care and shelter as his parents are deceased and his only sister, who is the legal guardian is not financially sound to provide for paying the user-charges at our paid home facility. The family does not want to shift him to any other facility as he has settled well in the routines, environment and people at our facility. At the same time, they are a single-income household with two girl children of their own. The guardian is supported by her husband, Mr.Gugan Prakash to pay part user- charges and the family seeks sponsorship for the remaining. In order to provide for Arun Kumar’s rehabilitation needs and living at our facility, the family requests for support of 3000/- per month, which amounts to 36000/- annually.

The deceased father, who was a farmer (tiller) hailing from Thanjavur met with untimely death by electrocution while working in the paddy field at the age of 55. Mother died at the age of 44 due to renal failure. The siblings inherited a house, which fetches a rental income of 3000/- per month, and Arun Kumar receives disability maintenance allowance of 2000/- per month from the government support scheme.

We, at Andhra Mahila Sabha Mitra Mandir, are a not-for-profit organization providing services for adult males with intellectual and developmental disabilities for life time at an affordable cost. Due to the severity of their conditions and high support needs, we are having to provide care and supervision at 1:5 ratio.  Our services include care, shelter, food, rehabilitation and health monitoring.

Your contribution can make a significant impact in Arun’s life by helping him to stay in the facility where he loves to be at, and also would enable us to help underprivileged to use our facility and live under quality care and dignity for the rest of their life. The donation received for resident sponsorship is exempt under 80G of Income Tax Act. The supporting documents are attached herewith for your kind perusal and would be much obliged to provide any further information you may need.
