Reveal The Hero

The "Reveal the Hero" campaign is a part of the Academic Adoption Program of Parinaam Foundation.

This is a long-term mentoring and financial support to children from urban poor communities to finish school. The key interventions are as follows:

1. Enrolment of children into quality local schools and appropriate grades – The team works with a network of schools located in or close to the communities to enroll children into age-appropriate grades and facilitates discounted fees for them. Tuition centers have also been set up for older children to help them fit into higher grades with comfort.
2. Facilitation of identity, address proofs, and birth certificates/ birth proofs - Many children supported through this program belong to parents who are migrants and do not have identity, birth, and/or address proofs. Parinaam has tied up with authorized agencies to facilitate these documents which help children secure admission into school and avail benefits where provided.
3. Support school education costs so that the children finish school and have the necessary guidance to pursue higher studies/college - Children supported under this grant will receive support towards school fees, books and stationery, school travel, and all direct costs related to education till they complete school. Parinaam tries to nurture children as early as possible, from age 3 onwards, as scientific evidence indicates that if we are able to nurture children from the ages of 3 to 5 years, the success rate will dramatically improve.
4. Creation of an education and child development corpus through financial investments over the period of the child’s support so that children can pursue higher education once they complete school. 
5. Focus on all-round development and inclusive education - Parinaam takes a holistic and child-centric approach to its programs, which focus on educational as well as developmental inputs. Each child will receive a health check annually as well as life skills support when needed. In addition, families will also be able to access multi-dimensional interventions that are Parinaam's USP (e.g. financial literacy and livelihood development programs) and which will be carried out in parallel to this program. Support will also include the identification and assistance of children with special learning needs.

At present Parinaam educates 1352 children across 289 schools in Bangalore, of which 667 still need sponsors. 1 in 2 students are girls. All the children are from the urban ultra-poor program and usually, their parents are the most underpaid in the city. When we started working with the families the kids were not even going to school so having them inculcated into a private school in 12 months is a great achievement. We do not wait for a child to be sponsored before putting them into school so all the children are already enrolled and attending school.

The sponsorship cost for a child is Rs. 12,000 per year.
