Rickshaw Run for underprivileged children in India

During a trip to India, the founder of Adventurists, Mr Tom, fell in love with the rickshaws and was inspired to establish what is now known as The Rickshaw Run. After he returned home, he was overheard whispering under his breath several times about riding rickshaws across a desert and up some mountains.

The Rickshaw Run is an event where teams drive Auto Rickshaws along various routes across India. The first route in December 2006 was from Kochi, in the southern state of Kerala, to Darjeeling, in West Bengal. In its inaugural run, 34 teams started the event, and 31 of those finished. 

Each team has to raise a minimum of £1,000 for not-for-profit organisations working in India and Nepal. The main organisations for the Rickshaw Run are Mercy Corps, Frank Water, Save the Children, and Make A Difference, depending on where the Rickshaw Run takes place. The teams also raise a minimum of £500 for an organization called Cool Earth.

One rickshaw and anywhere from one to three drivers make up each team. 

This year, Kunal Seth from US is participating in Rickshaw Run and raising funds for children that are supported by Make A Difference India. Kunal believes that helping next generation is the most powerful thing you can do and hence he is raising funds for vulnerable children.
