Runway of Hope 2023 | Be a champion for India's teachers and students

India has the largest ever adolescent and youth population, and according to UNFPA projections, we will have one of the youngest populations in the world by 2030. 

The future of India’s development depends on this generation.

However, access to high-quality and loving learning spaces remains a barrier between children and their potential. 3 in 5 Indian households earn less than INR 50,000 annually, which is marginally less than, if not equal, the cost of an average private school in India. This means the majority of Indians are relying on Government schools to ensure their children have a shot at high-quality learning, which can enable them to escape the cycle of poverty.  

Today, 7 in 10 children in India attend Government schools with this hope. However, reports show a wide learning gap in Government schools, acting as a barrier between children and their hopes.

Only 2 in 10 children in Grade 3 can read at their Grade level across States [ASER 2022]

Children studying in Government schools have the potential to thrive as in any other school. They thrive through powerful learning experiences led by teachers:

• who are loving and create a safe and fun learning environment
• who are skilled and lead high-quality classrooms 
• who are intuitive and in touch with the evolving needs of children

When loving, skilled, and intuitive teachers lead classrooms, they positively impact a child’s whole development. They ensure:

• Increased Learning Outcomes 
• Growth in Social-Emotional Skills and Dispositions
• Their retention in school 

And, while teachers are at the forefront of enabling our children, they have limited support to adapt to the evolving needs of lakhs of children in India. In the last 9 years, we have learned
