SAC Board Ready Program - support students through higher education

The education crisis in India has resulted in a situation where over 40% of students drop off in higher grades, or are "educated yet unemployable" . 

Most times, students with potential fall through the grid due to lack of access to the right guidance, support and resources.  Emphasis on "learning for marks" instead of "learning for life" or "learning to skill" results in students with weak knowledge of fundamental concepts, an inability to think and visualise, an inability to accept and learn from failures. In a country that currently has the highest share of youth population, this crisis could manifest into severe roadblocks to future economic progress. 

The curriculum and assessment structure, while in the process of change, is the current reality students have to face. 

Our attempt is to simplify the journey for our students, by providing tutors, access to tools and resources with focus on learning with understanding than learning for marks alone.  Students from our Foundational Learning Program transition into the Board Ready Program from Gr 8 onwards. 

The program provides guidance and tutorial support for all subjects delivered by a group of qualified paid tutors and volunteers. Smaller groups provide students the benefit of personalised attention, in a stress free, encouraging atmosphere. Programs around Spoken English, SEL, Career Guidance, Digital Literacy are also conducted for students to ensure they are equipped with skills for gainful employment

Since the launch of the program 4 years ago, we have had 100% success in both SSC and HSC boards with over 70% of them scoring distinction or first class, currently pursuing courses in reputed colleges. 

The career guidance sessions have helped students choose careers like Home Science, Baking, Hotel Management, Sports Coaching etc. 

Loss of livelihood due to pandemic has greatly increased the need for such support among students from underserved backgrounds. We intend to reach out to over 300 students in the coming year. Your support will enable deserving students create a better future for themselves
