Story

In these uncertain times, where jobs are scarce and economic volatility affects even the most skilled and educated in cities, rural youth are at an even greater disadvantage when they seek employment.

The Satsang Skill Development Centre (SSDC) has set out to train youth from the most underprivileged sections in Madanapalle (in the age groups of 18-25) with the tools necessary to find their feet in the current professional landscape. The program includes foundational skills like spoken English, Applied Mathematics, Computer literacy and Financial Management & Bookkeeping (with Tally training & certification) along with soft skills such as Effective Communication, Creativity, Teamwork, Critical thinking and Assertiveness, where rural youth generally find themselves at a disadvantage.

While the focus is on professional and soft skills, the main thrust of the program is life skills development and confidence building to uplift the youth from underprivileged backgrounds and make them employable.

Founded in 2018, The Satsang Skill Development Centre has trained 327 students in 14 batches with a 98% job placement rate till date. A total of 90 students across 3 batches are trained in a year. A pool of committed, thorough, and eager-to-learn individuals emerge at the end of every batch. Most of the pass outs have been successfully placed in ITES, BFSI, Retail & Hospitality companies in Bangalore, Chennai, and Madanapalle.

Our facility expansion plans are aimed at enabling us to train and place another 100-120 students annually across industry sectors ensuring an addition of 240 students annually to the job market. This will dramatically uplift the economic situation of the local population and transform families.

This new centre will be operational by the 3rd quarter of 2026 which would enable us to run 1 batch in this calendar year at the new centre and train 30 new students in addition to the 90 from the existing centre.

On an average, the course fee per student at The Satsang Skill Development Centre amounts to ₹18,000. This covers the full cost of vocational training for 1 student in a batch (of 30 students). It also takes care of administrative expenses, such as, building rental, classroom furniture, staff salaries, learning aids (books, computers, internet costs), etc.

Alumni success stories:

GANESH

A Batch 1 alumnus of SSDC, Ganesh was a high school dropout and was working at a petrol bunk in Madanapalle when he joined SSDC. He

sadly lost his father during the training period which left him as the sole bread earner of a family of three that included his widowed mother & an elder sister.

Ganesh worked hard and secured a job with Finance Buddha in Bangalore as a Tele-caller with a modest monthly salary. He quickly moved up to become a Team Lead & eventually a Floor leader at the company! Ganesh currently works as an Assistant Team Leader at a Trading Company in Bangalore, earning a salary double of what he started with.

PUJITHA

Pujitha, a B. Com graduate worked as a daily wage worker (shoveling mud into tractors) before she joined SSDC.

Her family consists of her parents who are aged, and an older married sister. Pujitha had tried to find a job but failed to find one as she did not possess some of the basic skills that she subsequently acquired at SSDC.

She travelled 48 km every day from her village Talupula (Andhra Pradesh) to Madanapalle and never missed a class for the entire duration of the course. With sheer hard work and determination, she secured a job in Finance Buddha as an Assistant Accountant, with a respectable monthly salary. Pujitha also enrolled herself in a 2-year MBA course from Golden Valley prior to joining Finance Buddha. Within 4 months at her new job, she got promoted as Team Leader, with a good salary hike and incentives.
