Save our farmers from the water crisis

Lack of water has led to great troubles for our farmers. With poor rainfall and overuse of ground water by digging too many bore wells combined with growing water hungry crops, our water table has dropped and is not recovering. Crops are failing, land is left barren - livestock are thirsty. Drinking water is in short supply. Much arable land is bare and dry. Some water is toxic with fluoride or arsenic and undrinkable. More than 60% of India's population depends on agriculture. And indirectly we all do as all have to eat!

SRDS restores the water table by rain water harvesting on poorly producing bore wells. Using a cost effective, guaranteed, easy to implement method, during the rains, water previously lost to run off, passes into the bore well and is stored underground in the aquifer. In the following dry season it can be pumped up for irrigation. In just two to three good rainfalls, a farmer will have enough water for all his needs.

650+ farmers have already benefited from this technology. Now they can fully crop their land and grow more lucrative crops as well as feed more livestock. They employ local labour to work their fields so the community benefits and they are able to repay their crippling debts. The environment greens and the precious topsoil does not blow away in the dry winds. With no water there are no farms - no farms - mean no food.
