Second Inning Home- Old Age Home for abandoned and destitute senior citizens

The destitute and abandoned senior citizens of the society are our targeted population. The elderly people belonging to the lower middle class or those who are destitute and abandoned and have no place for accommodation, lack the fulfilment of their basic needs. Being in their old age, they are already feeble and their will to live also diminishes. Either they don't get any support from their children or they do not have anyone to take well care of them. Food, shelter clothing and medical facilities are the basic needs of the elderly population as they are vulnerable to the issues of robbery, exploitation, malnutrition etc. That's why a firm decision of setting up an old age home was taken to ensure their proper care. There are 12 elderly inmates living in our old age home, and we are starting this project for their benefit. People in our society leave their old parents and they are left with no one to spend their time with. Transformation of the mindset is very important, but the destitute elderly who don't have anyone, are welcomed in the Second Innings Home with love and compassion.

Second Innings Old Age Home is an initiative through which the destitute and abandoned elderly are given a home. They are given proper care and protection. We provide them with food three times a day and also snacks between the meals. They are given new clothes time to time. They are taken to nearby hospitals for regular health check ups. Recently, one of our elderly inmates (Mr.Lalit) successfully had a cataract surgery and is recovering. All the elderly inmates live in the same hall and medical beds are provided to them. All the facilities are provided to them, which includes geysers in bathrooms, R.O , T.V, almirahs, refrigerator, washing machine, fans, LED bulb, tube-lights, coolers, etc. We celebrate birthdays with them every month and also celebrate festivals and perform various activities to cheer them up.

The main impact of setting up an old age home is to sensitise people to work for the elder population as their responsibility. Our activities in old age home had a great impact on the beneficiaries living as they've become more social and responsive towards the activities done with them.They get proper nutrition as their diet is checked on weekly basis. Their health is improving as they are taken to hospitals for their regular health check ups. The environment of our old age home is kept clean and it has a good impact on the inmates living here. Keeping the elderly indulged is very important and celebration of special days has kept them going on with their lives happily.
