Through small kitchen gardens and cash crop cultivation, hundreds of women from Dalit and farming communities are learning to grow life-giving vegetables like okra, potato, pumpkin, and onion — turning barren patches into fields of hope.Each woman is provided with quality seeds, nutrients, and guidance to earn an income and feed her family. About DVAS: Dalit Vikas Abhiyan Samiti (DVAS) founded on 18th June 1992 is working towards empowerment of marginalized communities and group’s i.e Dalit’s, Women, Children and other economically and socially deprived sections of society, over the last 30 years in Bihar through addressing factors of exclusion and advancement of their entitlements. The organization believes in its developmental model attenuated for increased participation of marginalized communities through various enabling strategies and programs such towards ensuring socio- economic transformation and dignity through access to quality education, health services and livelihood options. The organization believes in organic and inorganic growth of an individual and the community through increased exposure and development of core competency thereby leading to the development of intrinsic skill and managerial capabilities. . OUR VISION: To build the capacities of discriminated groups to raise their voices and represent themselves in activities to combat Factors leading to exclusion, socio-economic discrimination and inequalities.OUR MISSION:To empower the dalits and underprivileged community people to maximize their potential and enable them to become independent and self-reliant through fostering a conducive environment to enable the less privileged to assert their rights and live-in dignity.GOAL: To build the capacities of discriminated groups to raise their voices and represent themselves in activities to combat Factors leading to exclusion, socio-economic discrimination and inequalities. Guiding Principle: Ø To promote a egalitarian society for the less privileged – self reliance and access to their rights and entitlements. Ø To  increase participation of marginalized communities through various enabling strategies and programs such as knowledge building, community capacity building, participation and partnerships and networking . Ø To ensure Self Governance and Self-reliance among the weaker and oppressed section of the society Ø  To Work in partnership with coordinated approach with local stakeholders, Community, Government , NGOs and other thematic organization. Thematic Programs ; Realizing that Inclusive Education, Health &amp; Nutrition ,Sustainable Livelihood Promotion ,Gender Equality ,Climate Change ,Women and Child Initiatives and Urban Poverty&amp; Homeless are powerful drivers for overall development and a strong instrument to address and minimize the socio-economic inequities and exclusion across the society DVAS has been working on thematic Programs areas:  KEY STRATEGY:The methodology adopted by the organization for the attainment of its goal is one of a harmonious blend of the twin approaches of activism/struggle and development. The way to effective empowerment is one hinging on and oriented towards evolving autonomous community based organizations endowed with capabilities required for the actualization of a spirit of self- determination and self-reliance. Further community based organizations have strategic networking relationships in all the target areas under the banner of BCHR and DVAS facilitators to work as per Executive Committee Resolutions and direction. A frontal organization with an avowed aim to facilitate issue based interventions from time to time. We educate, we organize and we struggle for our rights.WORKING METHODOLOGY OF DVAS:Director is taking care of and is responsible for the success of the programmes assigned to each staff member. He conducts one to one meeting and monitors the ongoing project. A monthly meeting is held where all staff members are required to be present. From a volunteer to a field worker to programme coordinator to director there is close interaction and all the members of DVAS are well aware to there responsibilities. Since we work for our people there is total involvement and sincerity. Work responsibility is explained to all concerned staff by director and programme coordinator and monthly evaluation helps us find solution to all assigned task.
