Sharanalayam

Many underprivileged children living in slums or with parents who are beggars or sex workers don’t get the opportunity for proper shelter, education or food. Abandoned and neglected children by society end up becoming sex workers, beggars or anti-socials without having proper guidance or education.

Sharanalayam is a not-for-profit charitable organization that provides shelter, food, education, health and hygiene to children of Sex workers, HIV-infected and affected children, orphans, beggar children, etc. Sharanalyam is a loving and caring home to these children. It was started in the year 2000 by Mrs Vanitha Rengaraj who is lovingly called Thaiamma and most of the children here hold her name as an initial. 

Sharanalayam is a loving home for children who are abandoned by society. Sharanalayam currently houses 200 residents on campus. All the children are going to school. Sharanalayam has created many engineers, Nurses, Lab technicians, Chefs, etc. All the children eventually become productive citizens. These children have a home to come back to called Sharanalayam.
