I am currently working with the Central Himalayan Rural Action Group (CHIRAG), in the Kumaun region of Uttarakhand. I chose to work in the rural development sector in order to get hands-on experience at the grassroots level to contribute constructively and learn from the communities. After getting SBI Youth For India Fellowship, I landed in the Himalayan hills, decorated with beautiful nature and home to a warm, welcoming community, for which I will be grateful forever.As I believe that quality education can change the lives of underprivileged children, I am working with Chirag school, in my capacity to contribute to their mission to light up the lives of young minds.To help me create more impact and touch more lives, I need your support and contribution. We attempt this through interventions in health, education and natural resource management, and by providing access to diversified livelihood. We promote the sustainable ownership and management of common resources by the community.CHIRAG, over the past 30 years, has demonstrated and implemented effective strategies to address rural needs in health, natural resource management, education and livelihoods.CHIRAG also has a model school, Chirag School, for children belonging to economically and socially weaker sections from the surrounding rural areas.The school acts as a model school for CHIRAG's Bal Shikshak program that works with more than 65 government schools to provide fear free quality education.
