Uncorrected refractive errors are a common reason behind visual disability in people. In India, refractive errors are quite common in people over the age of 40. Lack of awareness, compounded by the non-availability of affordable optical services has been indicated in WHO surveys as one of the major causes of blindness.

Uncorrected refractive errors can lead to amblyopia in children, which may further lead to loss of sight. Blindness arising from this can easily be prevented by wearing appropriate spectacles. India has a prevalence of 9 to 12 % of uncorrected refractive errors among the age group 4- 16 years of age. 80 % people in the 40+ age group have some eye problem.

Sight care Foundation will focus on the elimination of preventable blindness caused due to refractive errors. We are on a mission of providing refractive error solutions to two million people by 2025. To achieve our mission, we are regularly conducting non-invasive eye camps in various places, schools and corporate sectors. We dispense spectacles immediately at the campsite. On average, we reach out to150 people each day.

With improved vision, more children will be able to complete their studies and their grades will considerably improve.

By early detection of Amblyopia, the further degradation of a child's eyesight shall be averted, and necessary steps will be taken for proper rehabilitation of the eye.
