What if the most creative child in the room never held a paintbrush or stood on stage?
In January, I shot a short awareness video on moral values at Chennai Primary School, Maduvinkarai. As the camera rolled, the classroom came alive — 50 students lit up with laughter, creativity, and energy. One student was especially brilliant at acting.
That moment stayed with me. It made me wonder: What if these kids had regular, structured spaces to express themselves?
I am starting two clubs this year — Drama and Arts & Crafts— to give our students a platform for creativity, confidence, and joy.
I need your support to bring them to life. As the academic year has already begun, we are in urgent need of funds.
Your donation will help:
* Buy essential art and craft supplies
* Bring trained artists and theatre educators for regular workshops
* Train teachers to run these clubs year after year
Picture this: A child performing in her first school play, or proudly displaying her handmade art at a school exhibition.
Even ₹50 can help us get basic art supplies.
₹500 can sponsor two children’s full participation in the club.
₹1000 or more helps us reach an entire classroom.
Whatever you give, you’re making creativity possible.
Donate now.
Every child deserves a stage. Every child deserves a brush.
Every rupee counts!
Over the past few months, I’ve been documenting Seyal through a quarterly magazine.
It captures classroom moments, student work, creative explorations, and stories of how children engage with these sessions. This doesn’t cover everything, but it offers a small window into what Seyal looks like on the ground.
You can explore it here:
We named this project Seyal - Creativity in Action.✨
Over the past year, Seyal has been running in Chennai Primary School, Maduvinkarai. 506 students from Grades 1 to 5 and 20 teachers have been part of this journey.
Earlier, students had limited space for creative expression. Most of their time was spent on reading and writing. Seyal introduced weekly art, craft, theatre, and music sessions within the school schedule.
So far, 19 sessions have been conducted using simple, low-cost materials and external facilitators.
97.3% of students reported feeling more confident after participating.
Teachers have also started using more creative activities in their classrooms.
Here are a few glimpses from these sessions.
Thank you for supporting this work! 🌻
Help us take Seyal to more children. Please consider sharing this with your network.
