Sponsor a month’s food and medical aid for quarry workers

Quarry workers lead a life of constant risk and exploitation. Their daily income can be as low as Rs. 60-70 and bonded labour is a common occurrence in quarry mines.

By the time they retire, most quarry workers suffer from respiratory disorders for example, tuberculosis, owing to daily exposure to explosives and stones. Their families do not earn enough to take care of the medical bills and without an income or government aid, most of them either stay sick for the rest of their lives or die before their time.

We have identified around 1,000 elderly quarry workers located in rural areas of Tamil Nadu that are in need of regular food and medical aid.

We distribute free rice, groceries, milk and other foods every month and regularly provide them with new clothes.

So far, 50 villages have been covered in central districts of Tamil Nadu. This project can help around 1,000 elderly quarry workers live a healthy life.
