Campaign by eVidyaloka Trust
In 2020, as the world witnessed the unprecedented outbreak of COVID-19, virtually every aspect of our normal lives was affected, including the education of our children. Data shared by UNICEF in a recent report highlights the impact of COVID-19 on the Indian education system: over 1.5 million schools shut, affecting 247 million students last year.
As urban schools rushed to adapt to the new normal by embracing technology, schools in rural and remote areas experienced the full impact of the digital divide. Many students were entirely cut-off from formal education due to closure of schools and no access to online learning.
The pandemic has highlighted a serious concern in our education system – any breaks in continuity of learning leads to children dropping out of school to prioritize earning a livelihood for their family.
Founded in 2011, eVidyaloka is a non-profit Trust with an aim to transform the rural educational landscape of India.
eVidyaloka provides education to children in remote areas with the support of passionate volunteers and local community partners leveraging technological interventions. Our education programs are designed to address the 2 chronic challenges affecting rural education – acute teacher shortage and poor teaching quality.
Created for students in the formative grades of 5 through 8 students, we focus on scholastic teaching for Mathematics, English, and Science, along with co-scholastic learning and action-oriented programs.
As the after-effects of the pandemic continue to manifest in various ways, the reach and continuance of education have become our utmost priorities which we address through our Digital Classroom Program.
The Digital Classroom Program facilitates skilled volunteer teachers to teach children online. A technology-enabled classroom supports and ensures that children continue to get the best of teaching support and continue to engage well in learning and related outcomes.
eVidyaloka programs have helped educate millions of children in rural areas across 14 states of India with the support of passionate volunteer teachers from across the globe.
However, there are more children across the country who are still at risk of never returning to formal education.
With your generous donations, eVidyaloka can scale this impact in the coming year, reaching marginalized children in many more communities and regions across the nation.
Let us do our part in a truly nation-building endeavour – ensuring quality education for our children today for a better tomorrow.
