About The Program

KHUSHII (Kinship for humanitarian social and holistic intervention in India) is an independent, non-governmental and non-profit organisation working for the up-liftment and holistic development of underprivileged children, women and vulnerable families. Founded in December 2003 by Cricket legend Mr. Kapil Dev, KHUSHII is currently working in six states of India: Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, Telangana, Maharashtra and Karnataka. It is reaching out to approx. 28,000 children and supporting more than five lakh people in the communities to fight poverty, abandonment and social neglect.Khushii runs tributary schools within the communities for the drop-outs and disinterested teenagers who drift away from education and can be integrated into the stream of development using the power of remedial education. With an overall holistic focus on a child's growth and potential, it aims to create skilled and confident individuals who can make their way in this dynamic world. The project of remedial education aptly titled Swatantra Shikshantra came up with the goal to positively impact the future of hundreds of underprivileged kids. It is like a second home to children who come here after spending their formal school hours at the respective government schools. At Shikshaantra, they will try to fill every learning gap which an individual faces. The overall development of the students, in terms of health, social engagements and healthy nourishment is taken care of through health and immunization camps snd counselling and proper nutrition through mid-day meals. 12th graders are also given career guidance and meritorious students are facilitated with grants for higher education.Through its flagship programme 'Shikshaantra+', KHUSHII addresses the challenges of poor infrastructure, low Pupil-Teacher ratio, low learning levels and drop-outs in government schools. Its 'Complete School Transformation' model in collaboration with State Education departments is improving the schools through remedial education besides improving health and hygiene as a part of WASH's initiative, making digital learning tools accessible and promoting sports and recreational facilities in schools. KHUSHII in its endeavour to integrate communities with the development of school initiated the programme 'Shiksha aur Vikas' in nearby communities. The programme works on the aspects of Adult Education and Life Skills, Health and Sanitation, Financial Inclusions and Economic empowerment through Skill Development and Livelihood. Their distinctive goal is to empower women and children from poor and marginalised communities leading to improved life of dignity through economic empowerment, better health and education.
