Sponsor the cost of a child's hostel stay (30K/Year), enabling them to attend govt school

SODEWS runs a hostel with a capacity of 150 for children from poor families is our flagship programme. The hostel in mates are mainly children who don’t have access to education either because the facilities are not available in their village (in and around Jawadu hills, a backward tribal area), or because their parents migrate to larger cities in search of employment. Last year the hostel had 108 children with equal number of boys and girls, studying in classes 1 to 12. In the current year it has gone up to 124 (60 girls and 64 boys). While the children stay in the hostel, they attend nearby government schools.

SODEWS’ aim is to improve the living conditions of rural poor by providing proper health care, quality education with emphasis on girls’ education and creation of more earning options by giving life skills and livelihood training. In the last two decades, our work has touched thousands of children in and around Tirupattur district, Tamil Nadu and has had a significant impact on improving their lives and of their families.
