Summer Camps of children for development of EQ & SQ

The formal education system is not very much aligned with the development of EQ & SQ, which are very crucial for the success as well as happiness of life. Today despite all schooling efforts even by the elite parents, they are unable to meet out this most important need of their children. Another obstacle is the removal of all kinds of challenges form the lives of the children by the parents only. If there are no challenges, there is no growth is the law of nature. The family structure has become mostly nuclear, both parents are working in many families. So, they hardly get the quality time to spend with their children. The social sensitivity regarding the various social issues is almost lacking only because of lack of exposure & proper training. The giving attitude is also diminishing. Lot of behavioural issues are emerging in the children like aggressiveness, non-sharing attitude, frustration/depression, difficulty to accept ‘NO’ etc. These are very important life skills to be learned at this age only. We are trying to give them an opportunity to learn these life skills through our Residential Summer Camps "SPARK" since last 11 years.

There will be 4 batches of the Residential Summer Camps in April & May 2023. We expect around 150 + children of 10-20 years to participate in these camps from all over the Maharashtra state. These camps will be held at our training Centre at Amravati, where all the arrangements of food & stay will be made. The participants will be from different socio-economic & cultural backgrounds, some will be from very challenging family or socio-economic background. They will learn to live together during the camp duration at one place as a family. They will be given assignments as challenges to be completed by going into the community, in pairs or small groups every day. Selling of books in the colony, understanding the life of the street persons, visiting the district level officers & understanding their life & challenges, visiting the MIDC to learn the entrepreneurial spirit, visiting the old age home, blind schools etc. All of them will prepare a vision document of their life after 20 years & the action plans needed to reach there. All these activities will help in the development of EQ & SQ.

The children will develop EQ & SQ by the way of completing the assignments, which are the real-life challenges only. They will learn to face the challenges of life & how to overcome those. They will also have more clarity regarding their own future by going through the process of preparing a 20 years vision document by every participant. They will become more sensitive towards the various social issues like disability, old age issues, street persons etc. They will learn to find out the opportunities to learn from their surroundings. They will develop the leadership skills also. All these will help them to become responsible citizens. They will pass in many of these skills & learning to their fellow friends at their own places after going back to their homes. Their families will also get sensitised towards all these issues.
