Support Affected Families During The Pandemic

The battle against the COVID-19 pandemic continues, and the second wave has created exponential issues for the communities we work with. Families in the urban poor settlements in Bangalore continue to face loss of livelihood and there is difficulty in accessing basic medical supplies as well. They also live in spaces that do not offer separate sanitation or quarantine facilities.

We, at Makkala Jagriti, are committed to standing by the communities that we work with and supporting them in times of crises. When the first wave struck in early 2020 we were able to support over 5,000 families with a month’s groceries, over 10,000 children with learning kits to ensure their education is uninterrupted, and over 10,000 families with information and awareness on preventive measures and self-care.  

It was all thanks to the support of contributors like you, who ensured that our very own are not left behind in this battle.

Together we can battle anything and we request your support again to tide over the current situation. 

Makkala Jagriti is raising funds to support 4,000 families in urban poor settlements in Bangalore in three ways:

• Providing essential grocery kits to families whose livelihood has been affected
• Providing a basic hygiene kit to help maintain health and safety of the families
• Providing awareness, breaking myths and misconceptions on the preventive and care measures for COVID-19 as well as encouraging vaccination

You can support one family with essential groceries and hygiene with Rs.1,500. This will support a family of 4 for a month. 

The Grocery Kit contains essentials such as rice, lentils, sugar, oil, masala, turmeric, semolina, etc. The Basic Hygiene Kit contains N95 masks, sanitisers, soap, etc.
