Support an Income generation program for a widow

Even in today’s time, in our society, widows are looked down upon and in worst scenarios also ostracized from the social milieu. The need of the hour is to ensure a dignified and independent life to them. It is only when they are financially independent can they shape the future of the families and the children who are dependent on these widows.

To uplift these widows of the distress they face, Manav Vikas has initiated and Income Generarion Program. Under the program, we will train the 5 widows selected for two days. After the training we will discern from among these 5 widows as to who all will be able to conduct the Income Generation Activities. 4 similar sessions will be conducted in a year. To these identified widows/divorcees we will then distribute the amount of the issued grant (` 10,000 per widow) in accordance with the self-contribution that they will be able to add for any particular IGA. If otherwise, we would purchase the required equipment that are demanded by the women. Like that we will distribute the amount ` 2,00,000 to 20 widows/divorcees after 4 training conducted, targeting 5 widows each per training. After that these women will be able to have a source for income for their houses and families. Regular training and monitoring will continue to check the progress of the families associated.

Through this attempt we are trying to make an impact in the lives of the 20 identified widows/ divorced women. They can prove to the society that they too are changing components of the society. A better source of finding livelihood for themselves can also make them stand on their own feet. Thereby we pray that this project be a blessing not only to the targeted widow’s lives but also a boon to the family/children that are dependent on them.
