Story

Since 1973, Asha Niketan Kolkata has been dedicated to serving individuals with intellectual disabilities, many of whom are orphaned and marginalized, primarily from below the poverty line. We provide a comprehensive range of services, including residential care, school readiness programs, therapeutic care, and vocational training. Our mission is to create an inclusive society where individuals with intellectual disabilities are valued and empowered to reach their full potential.

Our Mission:

At Asha Niketan Kolkata, we believe in recognizing and celebrating the gifts of individuals with intellectual disabilities through mutually transforming relationships. We empower these individuals by offering vocational training and livelihood opportunities in various skills, including:

 

·      Crafting decorative candles

·      Creating handcrafted jewelry

·      Producing paper bags

·      Block printing on bedsheets, pillow covers, dupattas, and handkerchiefs

·      Batik
