In a small Adivasi village called Devpasuli in the state of Chatthisgarh, a young creator named Tumlesh Neti from the Gond tribe, picked up a camera for the first time through Adivasi Lives Matters' digital storytelling program. What began as curiosity soon became purpose — Tumlesh started filming everyday stories of his people: how they farm, celebrate, and protect the forests they call home.
Today, his videos have reached thousands online — breaking stereotypes, inspiring pride, and showing India an authentic picture of Adivasi/tribal life. He is currently pursuing his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and is an alumnus of the Green Hub Central India Fellowship (2024–2025), where he trained in documentary filmmaking focused on community and wildlife conservation.
And Tumlesh is just one of many. Kavita, Abhichand, Lata, Kavipriya and many others are doing wonders. We are proud and happy that such a transformation is happening in the hinterlands of India. ( Visit https://www.adivasilivesmatter.com/ and https://www.instagram.com/adivasilivesmatter/reels/ )
Many Adivasi/tribal youth have powerful experiences and perspectives, but lack access to digital tools or training to share them. Support Digital Storytellers is an earnest call to support the digital storytelling initiative for Adivasi/Tribal youth The campaign aims to raise funds to support the training costs of 500 Adivasi/tribal youth. The training in digital storytelling provides them with the skills, mentorship, and tools to narrate their lived experiences, cultural heritage, and community issues through digital media.
Together, we’ve already nurtured 500+ young storytellers, who’ve created 5,000+ original pieces preserving their languages, culture, and struggles. Building on the success of previous years, we plan to train and mentor 500 new Adivasi youth!!
Your contribution helps them find their voice and tell their stories to the world.
