Samoon Adarsh Vidhyalaya is a school located in Osla, a remote village in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand. The school provides free, quality education to 200 children from Osla and neighboring villages. It was established to address the severe lack of educational access in the region, where infrastructure such as roads, electricity, and healthcare are nearly absent. The proposal seeks funding to cover the operational costs to ensure continued educational opportunities for the children and to uplift the community by breaking the cycle of poverty through education.
Goal:To secure long-term funding for Samoon Adarsh Vidhyalaya and ensure continuous quality education for 200 children in the remote village of Osla, Uttarakashi, thereby reducing educational disparity and empowering the community.
Beneficiaries:Osla is an underdeveloped village in Uttarkashi with no proper roads, electricity, or healthcare. Children walk up to 16 kilometers daily to attend school, posing safety risks, especially for younger children and girls. The lack of educational infrastructure perpetuates poverty, forcing families into subsistence farming. This project aims to address this issue by ensuring access to education for the children of Osla.
Project Rationale:Samoon Adarsh Vidhyalaya was established to fill the educational gap in the region. By providing free education, the school hopes to break the cycle of poverty and empower the community. The proposal aims to cover essential operational costs to continue providing these educational services.
Sustainability Plan:To ensure long-term sustainability, Samoon Foundation seeks partnerships with government entities, CSR initiatives, and private donors. These collaborations will help maintain school operations and continue providing free education.
Monitoring and Evaluation:The school’s progress is monitored by Samoon Foundation staff, in collaboration with the Osla Village School Development Committees and community representatives. Regular reports are generated, and meetings with the executive body and parents ensure transparent evaluation of the project’s success.
Osla, which is the last village in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand state is inaccessible by road today. The nearest roadhead in neighbouring Taluka village is a 14-kilometre-long trek away. This lack of connectivity has led to several infrastructural challenges, including the provision of education. To address this issue, the Samoon Foundation has established the Samoon Adarsh Vidhyalaya (hereinafter referred to as SAV) in Osla. Founded in April 2021, SAV is a Hindi-medium primary school that provides free-of-charge education to approximately 100 students. Under current circumstances, SAV is crucial in ensuring that the educational needs of Osla’s children are not compromised. Currently, the school is being operated in a rental building.
Education is foundational to the growth and development of any community. Providing a free-of-cost education to those deprived of basic necessities today will prove valuable for many generations to come. We earnestly seek your assistance, in any form you find appropriate, to uphold the principles of India’s constitution by steering the children of Osla towards a brighter future.
