SUPPORT FREE THERAPY AND MEDICAL TREATMENT FOR POOR AND DISABLED CHILDREN

My name is Dr. Ashish Kumar and I am an Occupational Therapist by profession. I passed from SVNIRTAR in the year 2000 and I have done master degree in public health from utkal University. I have been working in this field for the past 24 years. I worked in an NGO as an Occupational Therapist for 24 years and helped children with Cerebral Palsy, Multiple disabilities, and Mental retardation. I felt the need to do something for these children which could help them live a better life on their own so in 2011 I established an NGO under the Society Registration Act named Aastha Rehab Care Society, Cuttack. In 2011, I founded Aastha Rehab Care Society, a registered NGO under the Society Registration Act, with the goal of supporting children with high support needs (differently abled children). Initially, we provided center-based therapy, but I soon realized that many children from poor families couldn't access our services due to transportation issues.

Despite continuing center-based work for years, I found that children from poor families, rural areas, and those below the poverty line (BPL) couldn't regularly visit our center. To address this, I decided to establish a home-based therapy program in 2023, catering to differently abled children who are poor and unable to afford therapy or travel.

Our team of professionals, including a physiotherapist, occupational therapist, doctor, speech therapist, and special educator, visit these children's homes to conduct assessments and provide therapy, essential medicines, aids, and appliances as needed.
