Story
📝 Story:

Hi, I’m Jagriti Sharma.

From the fast-paced classrooms and crowded corridors of Delhi University, I’ve found myself in the quiet, arid landscapes of Rapar in Kutch, Gujarat—a place that now feels like home.

As a fellow with the India Fellow 2024 cohort, I’m placed with Gram Swaraj Sangh, a Gandhian grassroots organization that works deeply with rural communities. My work here focuses on issues of health, nutrition, and gender equity, especially with adolescent girls and women.

Every day, I witness stories of resilience and quiet strength—of women who raise their voices in village meetings, of young girls asking bold questions, and of families making do with the little they have. These are stories that don’t make headlines but reflect the spirit and struggle of rural India.

🌱 What This Fellowship Has Taught Me

This fellowship has been more than just work—it's been a transformation.

Living in a water-scarce region, I’ve seen how every drop counts, and how communities manage with dignity and care. Working in a Gandhian organization has taught me simplicity, self-reliance, and the value of every resource. It’s challenged me to slow down, listen more, and observe deeply.

It’s also reshaped my understanding of development—not as a one-size-fits-all solution, but as a context-specific, community-driven process rooted in trust, empathy, and time.

You can read more about my work and reflections on the India Fellow Blog.

💡 Why I’m Fundraising

To make this workshop happen, our cohort is collectively raising ₹10,00,000 to cover the cost of travel, food, stay, and learning materials.

My personal goal is ₹1,00,000, and I’m reaching out to you for support.

This fundraiser is not just about me. It’s about investing in youth-led change and ensuring that people like me, who come from modest backgrounds, are able to learn, grow, and serve better.

By contributing, you are helping amplify voices of rural women and girls whose health, safety, and futures we are working to improve.

🙌 How You Can Support

✅ Donate any amount—₹100, ₹500, ₹1000—everything counts

Even if you can’t donate, your support in spreading the word means the world to me.
